Koger Cosmetic Clinic & Medspa offers brow lift procedures for men and women in Palm Beach County, including West Palm Beach, Vero Beach, Wellington, and the surrounding areas of Florida.
The upper portion of your face often develops the earliest signs of aging, including a brow that starts to sag over the eye area. Dr. Koger may recommend a brow lift to rejuvenate this area.
About the brow lift procedure
Dr. Koger specializes in offering two different options to his brow lift patients. Together, you can decide which surgical approach will best help you achieve your desired aesthetic goals. Using an endoscope (a thin tube with a camera on the end) and special instruments placed through small incisions made within the hairline, the endoscopic approach allows the tissue and muscle beneath the skin to be adjusted by Dr. Koger, correcting the source of visible creases and furrows in the forehead. Alternatively, Dr. Koger can perform a brow lift through what is called a “coronal incision.” The coronal incision is created from ear to ear across the top of the head, within the hair-bearing skin. The forehead skin is then lifted, and any muscle adjustment can be made under direct visualization. The resulting scar from a coronal brow lift is well concealed within the hair.
Benefits of brow lift surgery
A brow lift with Dr. Koger will reduce the wrinkle lines that develop horizontally across one’s forehead, as well as those that occur on the bridge of the nose, between the eyes. A brow lift raises sagging brows that are hooding the upper eyelids and places the eyebrows in an alert and youthful position. It can also improve frown lines, the vertical creases that develop between the eyebrows.
Candidates for brow lift surgery
The brow lift procedure is performed to minimize some of the visible signs of aging, such as drooping eyebrows, forehead frown lines, and “hooding” that can occur over the eyes. With this lift, the muscles and skin causing the problems are removed by Dr. Koger or otherwise altered to smooth the forehead, raising the upper eyelids and minimizing frown lines. This procedure is best for people between 40 and 60 years of age, but it can also help people with inherited conditions, such as a droopy brow or furrowed lines above the nose. Dr. Koger performs the brow lift procedure alone or in conjunction with other procedures, such as a facelift, eyelid surgery, or reshaping of the nose.
Planning your brow lift procedure
If you are considering a brow lift or would like to know if it is the right cosmetic surgery for you, schedule a complimentary consultation with Dr. Koger.
Where your brow lift is performed
Brow lift surgery is performed in a surgical suite on an outpatient basis, so someone will need to drive you home after the surgery.
Type of anesthesia for your brow lift
Local or general anesthesia is used for a brow lift, depending on the technique that is used for the procedure.
After your brow lift procedure
During your brow lift recovery, your forehead may be taped, and your head may be loosely wrapped to minimize swelling and bruising after the procedure is completed. A thin tube may be present to drain any excess blood or fluid that can collect under the skin. Dr. Koger and his amazing staff will give you specific instructions regarding how to care for the surgical site and drains. They will also instruct you on any medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and to reduce the potential for infection and inform you on when to follow up with Dr. Koger.
Getting back to normal after brow lift surgery
You should keep your head elevated and refrain from vigorous physical activity for as long as Dr. Koger recommends following your surgery. The initial wound healing may take 10 to 14 days. Sutures or clips will be removed when it is appropriate. You should be ready to return to work and normal activity after two weeks. Cosmetics can help to camouflage any bruising that may occur. Even though you will look presentable to the public, you will find that the healing will continue for several weeks as the swelling dissipates and incision lines fade. It may take several months for your complete recovery.
Your new look after brow lift surgery
After you heal, you may notice the most improvement in your eye area. Although a brow lift is not intended to improve the eyes, this effect is due to the lifting of forehead tissue that sags over the eyebrows.
