Koger Cosmetic Clinic & Medspa offers revision breast surgery for women in Palm Beach County, including West Palm Beach, Vero Beach, Wellington, and the surrounding areas of Florida.
Dr. Koger recommends revision breast surgery for women who are unhappy with the results of their initial breast augmentation procedure. This may involve complications that emerged after the surgery or changes to how a woman wants her breasts to look and feel.
Revision breast surgery may help with:
- Complications, such as “double bubble,” deflated implant, and capsular contracture
- Changes related to weight loss and pregnancy
- Improper implant placement and/or areola positioning that causes asymmetry and other cosmetic concerns
The ideal candidate for revision breast surgery is a woman who is dissatisfied with her previous breast augmentation.
As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Koger recognizes common issues with breast implants and breast augmentation procedures. A complimentary consultation is the first step to learn more about revision breast surgery and what can be accomplished with the procedure.
As part of the surgical planning process, Dr. Koger provides detailed instructions for you to prepare for your breast augmentation surgery. This may include some lifestyle changes, such as not smoking or drinking alcohol in the weeks prior to the surgery. He may also recommend diagnostic testing to further evaluate your breast implants and any issues within the tissues.
To the extent possible, Dr. Koger uses the incision lines from your breast augmentation surgery, but new incisions may be needed to achieve the goals of the procedure. After the incisions are made, Dr. Koger may:
- Remove/replace the existing implant
- Remove scar tissue
- Reposition the areola
- Remove any excess skin, breast tissue and fat
Liposuction may be used to sculpt the shape of the breast.
The most common symptoms after breast revision surgery are discomfort and stiffness. Your breasts may feel heavy, as well. Dr. Koger may prescribe medications to help with the symptoms. Your nipples may feel very sensitive or numb.
Recovery from breast revision surgery depends on how well you follow Dr. Koger’s instructions. Avoid any strenuous activities, such as lifting and bending, until advised by Dr. Koger. Most patients return to work after one week and normal activities resume in three to four weeks.
The incision lines will initially heal as pink scars that are slightly elevated from the skin. Over time, the color will change to be slightly darker than your skin.
Once the swelling has subsided, you will see the full results of your breast revision surgery. This may take a few months or longer.
